the launch of the new C-4000 SPECTROMETER, the first Sekonic Spectrometer exclusively engineered for lighting designers. Labeled the “Dream Tool,” the C-4000 forges an innovative design direction for the Sekonic family of Spectrometers. C-4000 SPECTROMETER

Combining Sekonic’s precision light-measuring performance with the flexibility and convenience of smartphone technology, the C-4000 leads in a new direction for Sekonic Spectrometers. Offering a compact, lightweight, sophisticated, and affordable solution for the lighting professional, the C-4000 is also a perfect tool for field technicians and installers. With its color touch screen, Bluetooth ® enabled wireless communication, and compatibility with Apple® and Android™ smartphone and tablet devices, the C-4000 provides the most flexibility for on-location data sharing than any other system on the market today. In its most basic function, the C-4000 is a standalone numeric display handheld Spectrometer. Wirelessly paired with the free Sekonic LD App and your smartphone or tablet device, it becomes a powerful tool for remote-control measurements and other convenient functions – all at your fingertips. Connected to the SEKONIC LD Paid version of the App and an extensive array of functions such as plot measurements will impress even today’s most demanding Lighting Designer.

With the SEKONIC LD App installed on your smart device, remote measurements are easily achieved via Bluetooth connection. Measurement data such as spectrum graphs, CRI, TM-30-18, CIE 1931 chromaticity coordinates (x, y), as well as plotted readings are displayed in full color with the high-quality resolution of your smart device. Stored measurement data, configuration settings, and functions can be reviewed and adjusted on your smart device. Data can be shared via screenshots, real-time generated reports, and images of onsite locations with GPS coordinates. The C-4000 offers a comprehensive package of measurement data, shared with offsite designers, engineers, technicians, and clients.

CIE 1931 is a color space based on the tristimulus values that are mathematically derived from color measurements, representing red, blue and green light and theoretically represent the standard observer’s eye. The values of CIE 1931 are denoted by x, y coordinates.

CRI The Color Rendering Index (CRI) is an index that measures the ability of a light source to reveal colors of objects in contrast to a natural light source, such as the sun. Ra is an average of eight out of the 15 CRI values, providing a general assessment of the light sources color capabilities.

Spectrum The Spectrum displays the spectral distribution of the measured light source in a graph with relative or absolute intensity against the wavelength. The graph can be viewed, printed and saved via the SEKONIC LD App.

TM-30-18 Published by IES (Illuminating Engineering Society), TM-30 is a color rendering index system that indicates how well a light source will reproduce a color accurately when it illuminates that object (as compared to a black body radiator – such as the sun).

Import drawings/photos and create titles

Capture drawings or photos of the on-location site for evaluation with your smartphone, create titles with notes of the details, and save them.

Plot the measured value directly on the drawing or image

Measured values can easily be positioned directly on the imported image (up to 999). Selectable units of display for each measurement point can be lx, K (Kelvin), ⊿uv, Ra, Rf/Rg, x,y.

GPS coordinates to recall measurement location

Measurements can be stored with linked GPS coordinates for easy recall or onsite location. Included along with other critical information in the location report.

App Ready Report

Create PDF or CSV reports within the SEKONIC LD App. The report includes GPS location, location image or captured drawing with plotted values, CSV detailed measurement data, and Spectrum, CRI, TM-30-18, and CIE 1931 graphs for each measurement plotted light source.

Add note/image references in real time

Special lighting situations that occur and require detailed notes and images can be created during the measurement process. Images can be taken on the spot, or saved images can be linked.

The SPECTROMETER C-7000 spectrometer designed for industrial light measurement and control has led the way for SEKONIC’s expansion and diversification into the industrial lighting industry. Offering unique and advanced color measurement and analyzing features, the SPECTROMETER C-7000 is a sophisticated solution for countless lighting and color conscious industry designers and consumers.

To meet and exceed the demands for a more versatile measuring tool, Sekonic's commitment to provide the great value to its customers, has developed new firmware. This latest FREE firmware enhancement addresses the rapid demand for new lighting interpretations metrics and metering applications for industrial lighting. The new firmware provides expanded color interpretation (TM-30, TLCI/TLMF, SSI and CRI comparison), to enhance its precision color control for every light source. In addition, the firmware provides Continuous/Single measurement selection, SDK (API) in Visual Basic (for Windows only) for Remote control, MAC OS Ready Utility (10.13 to 10.15), Preset display (Toolbox menu) and Mini B USB cable included in the package. These software improvements significantly increase the C-7000’s capabilities and versatility in all applications and expands its ability to accommodate more industrial lighting categories.

KEY FEATURES:

TM-30 metric (new TM-30-18), provides a color fidelity (Rf) that is identical with the (Rf) of the International Commission on Illumination (CIE) of 224:2017, international standard. TM-30 is becoming a very popular replacement of Color Rendition Index (CRI) (R1-R15 including Ra) amongst lighting designers because it is very accurate in measuring the color fidelity (Rf) color accuracy and Gamut (Rg) color saturation. TM-30, includes several measures and graphics to evaluate the Fidelity and Gamut of a source, when compared to a reference light source (ex. tungsten). It provides 99 colors (sampled from over 100,000 measured objects) vs CRI's 8 (Ra value) colors.

TLCI (Television Lighting Consistency Index) uses the latest color science and a mathematical model of a broadcast camera to calculate the color response that would result when using a video camera. Seeing the colors as they would be shown during a broadcast (on TV).

TLMF (Television Luminaire Matching Factor) is a companion metric to TLCI, which provides comparison with two different light sources, rather than to a perfect reference, and see if they will play well together.

SSI (Spectral Similarity Index), defined by Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences, Science and Technology Council is the method to show how close a test spectrum is to a reference spectrum (CIE illuminant and actual light source). The number is similar to CRI – above 90 is good, below 60 may have problems.

CRI Comparison (Color Rendering Index) provides the side-by-side comparison of a memorized CRI value and a current measured value. This is helpful when it is necessary for two light sources to reveal the colors of various objects faithfully in comparison with an ideal or natural light source.

Continuous/Single Measurement Selection provides systematic efficient way of measuring. Continuous measurement is helpful for light consistency check or seeing the change of light without measuring every time. Single measurement is useful to measure every single light such as flash or any other light sources.

SDK (API) for Remote Control: SDK (Software Development Kit) in Visual Basic (for Windows only) is available as a developer’s custom kit, including all necessary components to create a buildable custom software interface. The Remote-Control feature is especially useful in remote measuring situations such as manufacturing, horticulture and special industrial applications. It also helps when using the continuous measurement function.

Utility for MAC OS Ready (10.13 to 10.15): The C-7000 Utility software is now compatible with the MAC OS platform, expanding usability further into industrial fields that are mainly MAC based.

Preset Display (Toolbox Menu): In addition, the firmware update also shows the properties of a preset information when selected in the Toolbox under the Preset Selection menu.

Mini B USB Cable: Included with the meter, the Mini B USB cable provides communication with the Utility software for data transfer, selectable custom setting, firmware upgrades, remote control and continuous measurement control.
